We are both registered childminders working together to care for children on a full and part time basis as well as our own 2 daughters who were born in May 2012 and March 2014.
Dawn: I am a graduate and a qualified teaching assistant (Level 3) and have several years experience in working in a primary school, secondary school as well as a day nursery. I have experience of working with children with a range of special needs and also children whose first language is not English. I have attended training sessions on the Early Years Foundation Stage, the Progress Check at age 2, Planning, Observation and Assessment and have a Paediatric First Aid for Child Carers certificate. I also have a Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering certificate (Level 2) and Food Allergy Awareness for Childcare (Level 2).
Paul: Prior to becoming a childminder, I worked as a childminding assistant caring for children in the early years age group. I have experience of working with children with special needs. I have attended training sessions on the Early Years Foundation Stage and have a Paediatric First Aid for Child Carers certificate. I have also completed the Food Allergy Awareness for Childcare (Level 2).
Play and learning activities are provided to meet the needs of all children and are appropriate to their ages and the stages of their development. Activities for babies include a play gym, baby walker, activity table, ride on toys, treasure baskets, black and white baskets, shape sorters, nursery rhymes CD’s and a wide selection of smaller toys, puzzles and books to aid development. Activities for toddlers include Mega Blocks, vehicles, jigsaws, art and craft materials, dressing up clothes, puppets, baking, dolls, soft toys, musical instruments, playdough, sand and water (including water play toys), farm animals, phonics bus, role play area, crawl through tunnel, ball pool, Happy Land toys, cars and garage, train set, story sacks and a wide selection of books.
We have a spacious garden with swings, slide, rocking toys, paddling pool, water table, sand pit, ride on toys, mud kitchen as well as areas for growing vegetables and flowers. We enjoy going to playgroups, classes and on a range of outings to parks, soft play areas, farms etc. We will provide healthy snacks and meals.
Standard operating hours are 8 am-6 pm Monday - Friday, however we may be able to offer some flexibility to accommodate shift patterns.
We have both been graded 'good' by Ofsted (July 2017)

We provide an inclusive childcare service where all children are welcome, regardless of their cultural/home background and additional needs. Children will learn about individual differences and other cultures. We have experience of working with children with additional needs including physical disabilities (cerebral palsy), visual impairments, hearing impairments, learning difficulties & autism. We also have experience in carrying out physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy activities as well as basic PECS & Makaton. Dawn completed a university dissertation on Dyslexia in Children. We have also completed Disability Equality Training (levels 1 and 2) and Supporting Children with Motor-coordination difficulties. We have experience of working with children who speak English as a second language. Special diets can be catered for.
