Specialist Teaching Team (York)

The Specialist Teaching Team promotes the inclusion of children with low incidence conditions by providing specialist assessments, support, advice and teaching. Children and young people may have autism; deafness/hearing impairment; medical needs; physical disability; visual impairment, or may be unable to attend school for medical reasons including mental health issues.
The team offers a wide range of services to children, young people 0 - 25 years of age and their families in a variety of settings. We support young people post school in partnership with post 16 providers in York. The team may offer support in the following ways:
•support and advice to children and young people and their parents
•advice and support to educational settings

The service is free for children, young people and their families. Advice and support is available for all schools and recognised early years providers is also free. There is a cost for non statutory support for children and young people attending private schools and some training.
