Emotional and Mental Health Training for Schools

Vision

To ensure that school staff have access to high quality, evidenced based, accessible, relevant training on emotional and mental health across York and the wider region

Training plan

The emotional and mental health training plan is coordinated by the Workforce Development sub group, delivered by different providers and evaluated consistently in order to understand the difference it has made.

The Workforce Development sub group is made up of representatives from schools, CAMHS, Local Authority and voluntary sector. It is accountable and reports to the Strategic Partnership for Emotional and Mental Health

The training plan has been grouped into 4 different areas, in order to represent the different types and levels of training that is on offer. The 4 levels link to the thrive model of intervention used by CAMHS.

Cost

Some training is free at the point of delivery and for others there is a charge. The Workforce Development sub Group is working towards ensuring the priority training for schools staff is either free or subsidised.

Evaluation

All training will seek to capture the following evaluation information pre and post training session and then through a case study 3- 6 month later

  1. Increase in Knowledge of the specific issues relating to emotional and mental health (EMH)
  2. Increase in knowledge of the EMH strategies and approaches that work in schools
  3. Increase in confidence and ability to support children and young people around EMH in school
  4. Increase in confidence and ability to share the learning with colleagues within school

Feedback
