Walking to School

As a parent, you are responsible for ensuring your child gets to school on time and attends regularly.

There is no law saying when children can walk to school by themselves but children under 8 do not usually go to school without an adult or older brother or sister. You should make sure you arrive on time to collect your child from primary school. The school needs to know who will be collecting them if it is not you.

Most secondary school children travel to and from school by themselves, either on foot, by bus or by bike.
