There are over 14 libraries and a mobile library across the city. All are accessible and York Explore Central Library and Acomb Explore Library include Changing Places. Books are available in different formats including CDs, preloaded MP3 players and large print. Library members can enjoy two free hours of internet access everyday on PCs that are also accessible. There's a range of children’s activities available including the Summer Reading Challenge – a national initiative where children are given prizes for reading six books over the Summer holiday.

All activities are listed in Shine and on the Libraries website. Children and young people under the age of 18 can join the library service for free.
