Throughout this year we aim to increase the awareness of the Local Offer webpage and aim to make new/ stronger connections with schools, the community, external services and most importantly the children/young people and their families.

We aim to do this by attending as many events throughout York where we will distribute our leaflets, demonstrate how to navigate the website, promote the Facebook page and gain some views and opinions from the wider audience on what is working well on the website and where some improvements need to be made.

See below the 2018 time-line of the events and consultations we have attended with our goal in mind:

  • Local Offer Champion Training
  • Fulford School ERP Parent meeting
  • York Parent Carer Forum parent, grandparent, foster parent and guardians meeting
  • Review of other Local Authorities Local Offer website to.....
  • York Parent Carer Forum collaboration. A new advertising postcard shared to display Local Offer information and also Local Offer strap-line attached to their newsletters
  • Review complete of all of the Primary and Secondary schools SEND reports and website to ensure that there are correct links to the Local Offer
  • YPCF Preparing for Adulthood event- event used both to promote and also to help build a more comprehensive Preparing for Adulthood section on the website
  • York High School- meetings with both Young People and parents/carers
  • Connections made with DWP Mental Health Community Partner to discuss new content for the Preparing for Adulthood section on the website
  • Connections made to improve the information currently displayed on the website regarding Supported Internships


  • Integrated Services Conference- leaflet distribution and a concluding speech regarding the Local Offer webpage, Facebook page and feedback
  • Archbishop Holgate's School- consultation event with young people and parents
  • Meeting with Supported Employment Service Manager to discuss their supported employment programme to update the website and promote on Facebook
  • Millthorpe Secondary School- consultation event with young people and parents
  • Meeting with IT specialists in order to help make the website more accessible
  • Collaboration with Information Officer for Family Information Services


  • York College- Health and Well-being event. Attended with Young People's Service (30 Clarence Street) representing the Local Offer. Connections made with York Mind and York Carers Centre
  • Joseph Rowntree (Wiltshire cluster) coffee afternoon
  • Applefields Post-19 provision coffee morning
  • Collaboration with YPCF on creating a promotional postcard displaying both services which are being distributed to all GP practices within the area
  • World Autism Awareness Week
  • Meeting with SENDIASS to update their pages on the Local Offer


  • Publication of York Parent Carer Forum and York Local Offer postcard collaboration. There were 750 postcards published and all distributed to 37 G.P surgeries (including branch surgeries) in the York area.
  • Continuation of the expansion of our social network- multiple posts and shares on Facebook and our followers exceeded 100 this month. The aim is to post/share at least 3 items per week to remain active and on peoples newsfeeds.




  • Attended parent meeting at The Base at Fulford Secondary to promote the Local Offer gain any feedback and share what's new with the website.


  • The Opportunities Fair 2018- ninth annual event, bringing together secondary school students and older- and families, to Askham Bryan College to find out more information about options and support after school.

  • Collaboration meeting with Live Well York to try and combine the 2 websites to help encourage smoother transitions between Children and Young People services into Adult Services.
