Minding The Baby

NSPCC ‘Minding The Baby’ for vulnerable first time mothers (aged 14-25)

Minding the Baby helps vulnerable mothers understand their child and create a healthy and secure attachment. The programme also aims to improve the child’s health and development. It is delivered by an interdisciplinary team of highly skilled practitioners, who have health and social work experience. It integrates advanced practice nursing and mental health care for mothers and infants. NSPCC workers can provide mothers with practical support, for example with financial and housing problems. Mothers are visited weekly at home from the third trimester until the child’s first birthday, and then fortnightly until their second birthday. This can be increased as required, particularly in times of crisis.
