What can you access?

Information and support

If you are aged between 16-18 (up until your 19th birthday) you will be able to receive face to face support, telephone support, a texting and email service and 24 hour access to information and support from the online version of the Survival Guide and the YorZone website.

Drop-in sessions will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays 12:30 - 16:30 and Fridays 11:00 - 15:00 to provide initial information and signposting to further support across the city that can help. For example for support to access housing and benefits advice, making appointments etc.

Specialist Information, Advice and Guidance service

Trained Learning and Work Advisers will work across the city and come to 30 Clarence Street to provide a Specialist Information, Advice and Guidance service to young people who are aged 16- 18 that are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) , those who are in the care of the Local Authority, those in alternative education provision, and those in the youth justice system.

The Learning and Work Advisers will provide information, advice and guidance through appointments, group work and workshops at arranged times during the day that suit the needs of young people and they will also have available appointments at other locations across the city.

Drop-in @ 30 Clarence Street will be on:

Mondays 12:30 – 4:30pm

Tuesdays 12:30 – 4:30pm

Fridays 11am – 3pm


Trained Counsellors will continue to provide an appointments based Counselling service for young people aged 16-25 years old from Monday to Friday.

The Survival Guide and Yorzone websites will be updated throughout 2017 with details of opening hours, telephone numbers and an email address for you to contact us.


The Haven @ 30 Clarence Street

The Haven is an out of hours (6pm-11pm everyday- including weekends and bank holidays) mental health support to anyone aged 16 or over.

There is no appointment or referral needed and carers and family are all welcome.

The Haven is a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment whose emphasis is on reducing immediate distress.

The support on offer ranges from popping in for a chat over a cup of tea to one-to-one emotional support from trained mental health professionals.

The support also helps to raise awareness of other services and opportunities available in York all as part of the wider community.
