Books on Prescription is a scheme offering high quality self-help books for anyone to borrow free from their local library.
People can visit their local library in York, to borrow books from the collection and can also request the books free.
GPs and health professionals may prescribe titles in the collection for their patients to borrow from their local library.
The self-help books can assist with a range of commonly experienced mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety and stress.
Books on Prescription specific to Dementia are available at York library or by request from any branch library in York.
Shelf-Help, Books on Prescription for young people aged 13-18 are also available
Books on Prescription for people living with long term conditions are available in libraries and can be requested free.
