We are a small family orientated nursery offering 20 places for children aged from birth to 5 years, with over 26 years experience in providing childcare for families in York and the surrounding areas. The nursery offers a safe, loving and fun environment where children and their families are valued and respected. Rated 'Good' by Ofsted in November '15, it was noted that "partnerships with parents are strong and parents are very happy with the warm, homely environment that the nursery offers them and their children. Children are happy, safe and secure and have developed excellent relationships with staff".
The Wendy House team are all qualified to Level 3 or above, 2 members of staff hold degrees, one of which is a B.A. Honours in Educational Leadership.
Our morning session runs from 8 a.m.-12.45 and afternoon sessions begin at 13.15-6 p.m. (these may be extended by agreement). Full day places are continuous (8 a.m.-6 p.m.) with lunch provided, healthy snacks are also served during morning and afternoon sessions. We are closed on Bank Holidays and for approximately one week between Christmas & New Year.
We offer eligible parents up to 30 free hours of Early Years Education for 38 weeks of the year. Parents can use between 15-30 hours with us subject to availability.
We offer a drop-off/pick-up from Dringhouses Primary School for reception and year 1 pupils.

All childcare and services should make reasonable adjustments to support disabled children and young people or those with additional needs. Below is a statement from this provider about their inclusive practice and levels of experience of supporting different needs

The Wendy House Nursery has now been open for 26 years and we have extensive experience of supporting all children, including many with additional needs. We currently cater for children with various dietary requirements/needs, and will discuss any additional requests from families. We have children attending the nursery from various cultural backgrounds with resources to support their development and learning. The total number of years of supporting children in their learning and development over our 7 members of The Wendy House team is well over 60 years.

Our SENCO (Lauren Wood) is committed to supporting children at the nursery with disabilities and additional needs. We also have a member of our team who is fluent in Italian (she is from Italy) and who also has some knowledge of Spanish.

We have practitioners who have received extensive training in Makaton, Safeguarding, Early Language Development and Music & Movement to name but a few. The team at The Wendy House are continually undertaking training for 0-5 year olds in all developmental areas to support children's learning and development. All the team have First Aid training, Food Hygiene & Safeguarding. The team have also recently undertaken Early Talk Boost and The Baby Room Project.
