It’s been an exhausting task putting this summer’s issue together!
We have a huge amount of activities for you to choose from including many really great courses to challenge you in arts or sports. We have so many events this summer that we created a new section for them and you will find a new section ‘Hanging Out’ for lots of great young people’s casual fun activities to take your friends to.
The Summer Reading Challenge is back again for 2009! Brought you through York Libraries you can read about how to take up the challenge on page … Check out your local library and see what great books they have to help you with your challenge!
We’re hoping for good weather this summer so you can go along to the huge number of parks activities this summer. There are some great family days out in the parks in the ‘Events’ section too! We are looking for your input to help re-develop some of the play areas around York. If you have any ideas as to what you would like to see or do in your
local play areas then why not tell us in our online survey.

As well as all the activities School's Out has lots of extra info about other things happening in York that you can get involved with. You can download all of these extra bits below...
- Competition time!
- The Council has been given just over £1 million to develop 22 play areas across the City aimed at 8 -13 year olds over the next 2 years. We would like to know what makes a really great play area! You can write, draw, paint, make up a poem or whatever you like to tell us your ideas. You might want to describe to us what is included and why. Send your ideas to The Play Team, Lifelong Learning and Culture, 18 Back Swinegate York YO1 8ZD or tell us what you think online. The most creative idea will win a TRIKKE! You may have seen these great scooters at Street Sport York. A selection of your work and the winner will be appear in the October issue of Schools Out. (Closing date Friday 4 September 2009)
- Creepy Crawlies - Adventure Play Park
- School’s out and the summer fun is about to begin at Creepy Crawlies. There will be loads of fantastic activities running throughout the summer holiday!
