Integrated Working

The Every Child Matters agenda is about taking an holistic view of children and their development. Partnership working between agencies such as health, social services education and the voluntary and community sectors, with local authorities and with parents is essential to improve outcomes for children.

Integrated working focuses on enabling and encouraging practitioners to work together and to adopt common processes. This will ensure the delivery of frontline services are coordinated and built around the needs of children and young people.

Rather than wait for problems to deteriorate to meet the referral thresholds for social care, the authority has been keen to develop a range of Level 2 interventions which can provide the necessary early input. It is important that as well as developing those services at Level 2 effective routes are established to ensure easy access for individual children and young people .
