Integrated Commissioning

“Commissioning” is a broad term which covers partnerships of a non-financial nature, as well as market analysis and capacity building. Our definition of integrated commissioning is about working on a partnership basis and within partnership planning structures to:

  • Identify and assess needs
  • Identify resources available
  • Analyse the market
  • Establish priorities / choices
  • Identify relationships and accountabilities between commissioners and potential deliverers
  • Decide how resources are to be used
  • Evaluate the capacity of potential providers
  • Decide how best to deliver / provide services
  • Where appropriate, engage in formal procurement processes
  • Monitor and evaluate service delivery, effectiveness and value for money.

The Every Child Matters/Change for Children agenda has consistently reaffirmed the need for effective joint working between agencies and has emphasised the lead role of children’s trust arrangements in developing and implementing effective integrated commissioning arrangements. The Integrated Commissioning pages on the YorOK website provide details of what's happening in York, national information and commissioning frameworks, and guidance and contact details if you want to get in touch.
