- Work with schools and other places that are in contact with children and young people to listen to what you say.
- Help to develop different ways that children and young people can have their say about things that concern them.
- Promote a positive image of children and young people in the City.
- Raise awareness about the things that are available for Children and young people in the City.
Cllr James Alexander
I am one of York’s youngest Councillors. I am used to getting older people to listen to what is important to me and my friends. I want to get older people to listen to what is important to you.
I work for a University. I talk to young people and help them express themselves through art. In a job I used to have, I represented 10,000 young people and I helped put on bands like the Editors as well as DJ nights with people like Edith Bowman.
I enjoy the cinema, bowling, playing arcade games and staying away from my girlfriend’s guinea pigs (I am scared of them).
You can contact me through facebook, myspace, youtube, bebo, friendster or e-mail. My website is www.time-4-change.org.uk.
I am proud to have been elected as a councillor by York's present and event prouder to be elected as a Children and Young People's Champion by York's future.
My priorities:
-
Listen to what young people want and act, even if I don’t always agree
-
Visit schools and clubs to find out what you want
-
Tell people what matters to you in everything I do
-
Help get you listened to by the Council, newspapers and the news
-
Start talking to you and telling you what is happening using websites like facebook, myspace and youtube.
