- the entry requirements
- any specific training needed
- skills required.

Interview
Dave Streather, Business Development Director at Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets tells us a bit about his job and offers some good advice!
What sector do you work in?
Banking sector, high street clearing bank but focussed on the commercial market, ie businesses.
What job do you do?
I run the Business Development team in York, so in effect look at how Lloyds Tsb can attract existing businesses from the competition
What opportunities are there for young people in the sector you work in?
Opportunities at Branch level – learning the banking trade from the customer service side before progressing to customer relationship management
What do skills/qualifications do you look for in an employee?
Good core qualifications at GCSE and/or A level, an ability to learn and a personality which can engage and understand others
What advice would you give to someone deciding what options to take at 14 and 16?
Be clear what employers are looking for but play to your strengths as well ie do something you enjoy as well as being good at!!
Hints and tips
- Don't forget – schools/colleges have lots of careers info and resources that you can use.
- You may be able to use careers programmes such as KUDOS, or Odyssey Plus to match info about yourself with different career ideas. Ask your careers adviser.
