Copmanthorpe Carnival! - 7th July 2012
Copmanthorpe Carnival, York’s biggest and best Carnival, started in the 1960′s and now into it’s 6th decade. This event has always been popular and now has grown from a small traditional village event into a city wide spectacle, and is now proud to be York’s best Carnival making summertime in York so much more exciting! The Copmanthorpe Carnival boasts everything from amazing live music through to children’s activities and fairground stalls. A triple whammy of a day with a Music Festival rolled into Market rolled into Fairground.

Something for a Sweet Tooth!
Have you had chance to visit York's new attraction, CHOCOLATE (York's Sweet Story) in Kings' Square yet? I had the great pleasure of enjoying all it had to offer during the Easter holidays. The atmosphere was exciting from the moment I entered, along with lots of other families sheltering from the rain. The anticipation as we entered the first room was well rewarded when we were encouraged to use all of our senses to explore CHOCOLATE! The guided tour was well organized, with timed groups of about 10, which allowed us to savor all of the varied areas of the attraction, from the origins of Chocolate, through the history of York's Sweet making families, to an Interactive museum gallery. Modern technology, including a curved video screen and talking portrait gallery, all added to the varied experience. The final demonstration by a master chocolatier was extremely popular and very entertaining - not least because of another opportunity for tasting! If all that isn't enough to satiate the senses, of course there is a chocolate gift shop and café selling all manner of delights on the way out. I thoroughly recommend it.
