Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma

BTEC Diplomas allow you to learn about a particular area of work, eg art and design, construction, equine management. They usually take 2 years full-time to complete, and can sometimes be taken alongside other level 3 qualifications, eg A levels.

  • BTEC Subsidiary Diploma = 1 A level
  • BTEC Diploma = 2 A levels
  • BTEC Extended Diploma = 3 A levels

There will be a number of core units, plus a choice of optional units. Assessment is mainly by coursework and controlled assessments, although some subjects require external tests to be taken.

BTEC Diplomas are worth considering if you have a particular career area you would like to learn more about, or if you would like a course that is mostly assessed by coursework rather than exams. They are good preparation for employment at 18 or higher education.
