Child Poverty Strategy

The city has a new child poverty strategy. The aim of the strategy will be to achieve a fair and inclusive society where every child is given the best start in life and an equal opportunity to fulfil his or her potential.

Looked After Children Strategy

The priorities in the Looked After Children Strategy are drawn from what our Looked After Children and Young People have told us is important to them.

Parenting and Family Intervention Project - (Catalyst)

The Parenting and Support Strategy works to bring together relevant partners in the city to provide mothers, fathers and carers the information, advice and support they need to feel knowledgeable and respond appropriately to the individual needs of their children and young people.

Play

Play is essential to children’s quality of life and exploration of their culture.

Young Carers

Young carers are children who look after someone in their family who has an illness, a disability, a mental health problem or a substance misuse problem, taking on an inappropriate caring role ie. practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities that would normally be expected of an adult and which have a detrimental effect on the young carer.

Bullying

Tackling bullying is taken seriously in York. In 2011 schools in York have been invited to take part in a survey about bullying involving children and young people.

York Family Information Service is a free and impartial information service for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-19 (up to 25 with additional needs).
