Support for Play

The Play Team are part of Communities and Culture in the Neighbourhoods and Communities directorate of the Council.

The team aims to promote play across the city and works to address the priorities outlined in the Taking Play Forward, York’s policy for Play, In addition they promote and deliver play opportunities through the following projects, Shine, Street Sport York, Better Play Grants and Lottery projects.

The team are able to offer direct support or signpost to assist you with the following:

• Advice on play area design
• Help with funding applications
• Support to raise quality in play
• Provide and signpost to play resources/equipment
• Provide funding through the Better Play Grants
• Provide and signpost to playwork training
• Facilitate the Playwork exchange programme
