Roles and responsibilities:
Barbara Mands is the Head of Extended Services. This role leads on the development and delivery of the Extended Services Strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and promoting links within and across communities. The Head of Extended Services also acts as an adviser to Headteachers and governors in working towards sustainability, high quality and local collaboration. Debbie Adair is the Extended Services Development Adviser (Access and Inclusion). She provides high quality advice and guidance to schools and other settings, in order to develop services that improve outcomes, and help remove barriers to access for all vulnerable groups. Sarah Carrick and Jan Kilmartin are the Extended Services Policy Managers. They provide high level support to the Head of Extended Services and coordinate the project management, development and implementation of new policy initiatives, such as the 'Me Too' activities subsidy. The Extended Services Policy Managers also line manage the Parent Support Advisers and support them in their contribution to behaviour support strategies. Contact Sarah or Jan on (01904) 554441.
Kerry Revill is the Out of School Development Adviser for Extended Services. She provides comprehensive and high quality advice, guidance, and professional challenge to the Out of School sector in York in line with legislative standards, Ofsted welfare requirements and the ethos of the Council’s play policy – Taking Play Forward. There are currently three Parent Support Advisers in the Extended Services department. They work at level 1 to the cusp of level 2 on the Tiers of Intervention and will essentially aim to increase parental engagement. The role therefore removes barriers to learning, enables access to the full range of learning opportunities, as well as increasing schools’ capacities to provide access to Extended Services; in particular, parenting and swift and easy access to targeted and specialist support.
