DCSF co-located services toolkit
The DCSF have recently produced the Co-located Services Toolkit, designed to provide practical guidance to all those who deliver public and voluntary sector services and are considering the provision of co-located services for their communities. This toolkit is not intended to be a guide around the integration of services and the creation of multi-agency teams, but more a compilation of experiences and lessons learned by others who have procured, provide and operate co-located services.
The toolkit does not claim alone to solve the issues people face in co-locating, but offers a starting point and guide for people considering setting off on the journey to co-located services. The toolkit provides a series of downloadable documents, starting with the benefits and opportunities co-location presents, and sets out on typical journeys service providers might take: from visioning needs to delivering services to the public. It provides an overview of the issues and challenges potential service providers will face and suggests approaches to these issues including key factors for success. It also includes guidance on evaluating the impact of new service delivery models and planning for continuous improvement.
The toolkit includes a number of references to exemplar co-location case studies from pathfinders and others charged with service delivery. These are intended to be shared as examples of good practice to help others learn from existing and past experiences and provide pointers to effective customer-driven solutions.
