Key priorities for the coming year:
The key priorities for the coming year are outlined in detail in the YorOK Workforce Strategy Delivery Plan.
Priorities include:
Development of a YorOK Induction Package
We aim to develop a package that will introduce members of the workforce to the YorOK Children’s Trust and will cover the key themes that people need to know about and understand in order to support children, young people and families as part of the YorOK Children’s Trust. This will be available to anyone that works with children and young people. Work is currently underway to identify the core elements for inclusion in the package but it is likely to cover themes such as:
- The YorOK Children’s Trust
- Safeguarding and Integrated Working
- Prevention and Early Intervention
- Working collaboratively with other agencies
- Involving children, young people and families
- Opportunities for personal and professional development
If you would like further information please contact Kate Helme.
Training and Development
The Training and Development Unit is based within the City of York Council and seeks to ensure that members of the children’s workforce have access to core specialist and multi-agency training opportunities.
The Unit will support the delivery of a high quality focused training framework of professional development at all levels.
The Unit provides, brokers, commissions and signposts a wide range of accredited and non-accredited programmes from recruitment and induction through to leadership and beyond based on national standards and codes of practice
Staff in the unit offer guidance and information on professional development opportunities and qualifications facilitated by the Unit and provided by partner agencies.
The Unit acts as a hub for all professional development information for those working in the children’s workforce.
Visit the Unit’s website for further information.
Workforce Data
We aim to gain a better understanding of the numbers and types of roles in the YorOK workforce. This information will then help to support workforce planning and development. This project is being led by Lucy Axelby. For more information contact Lucy.Axelby@york.gov.uk.
Information
We will continue to develop the ‘Workforce' section of the YorOK website to ensure that it provides members of the workforce with useful information such as information on recruitment and retention, training opportunities, qualifications, different roles, workforce development, etc.
