CWDC Funding for Workforce Development
Could you offer a placement working with 13 -19 year olds?
A group of organisations in York and North Yorkshire are part of only nine consortia from across the country to be delivering a new programme of workforce development within Integrated Youth Support Services. Partner organisations include: North Yorkshire County Council, City of York Council, North Yorkshire Youth and the North Yorkshire Learning Consortium.
As part of the project there are 8 apprentices and 2 graduates looking for placement opportunities working with 13 to 19 year olds. Could you host a placement of either 12 weeks of 6 months?
The eight Apprentices are full-time employees and must complete a three month placement (starting around the end of March 2011) outside their normal work environment. The placement will contribute to their NVQ by providing practical experience for Unit 8 ‘Working with Partner Organisations and Communities’.
The two Graduate Trainees are paid a bursary whilst studying for the Graduate Diploma in Youth Work from Sheffield Hallam University. A requirement for the Graduate Trainees is to complete four placements, of approximately six months each, over the two year duration of the Workforce Development Programme (began in September 2010). All placements must involve the Graduate Trainees working with children and young people between the ages of 13-19 (up to 25 with learning disabilities). These four placements are to be split into three types as described in the placement information.
