From this page you can download a copy of York's Involvement Strategy and find out information about the YorOK Involvement Group that supports this strategy.

The YorOK Involvement Strategy

Why Involvement?

In this strategy "involvement" includes all work that encourages engagement, participation and consultation as well as active involvement in service planning, delivery and design.

There are many reasons why involvement is so important, ranging from the UN Conventions on rights of the child to effective commissioning.

The Story So Far

York is able to demonstrate many examples of high quality involvement work over recent years.

This includes activities such as establishing a youth council, engaging with the National Youth Parliament, YorKash, CANDI, Children's Centres, the development of play areas, forums for children and young people in care, the YorOK website and many more.

The Vision

We are committed to ensuring that the views of children, young people and families are taken into account in decision making, planning, commissioning, development, design and delivery of services.

We will treat all children, young people and families—no matter their age, ability, religion, sexuality, social or ethnic background—as equal partners and their views will be taken fully into account in all decision making.

How We Will Achieve This Vision

  • Develop our shared values and commitment to involvement
  • Ensure our strategies, structures and systems recognise and reflect the importance of involvement
  • Celebrate where involvement work is high quality and improving outcomes but challenge and support where it is not.
  • Work to ensure the YorOK workforce has the skills and knowledge required to support the vision for involvement.
