THE ART OF BEING A DAD
ENGAGING FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY
TOP TIPS FOR SUCCESS WORKING WITH THE UNDER FIVES & PARENTS/CARERS
- Always consult your families as to whether the project is something they want to do and more importantly that the whole group is confident to do.
- It is equally important if not more important to consult the children, without them enjoying the activities no progress will be made as a family.
- Never forget the families are your number one priority, the project is for them not for you, if it isn’t working, stop.
- Don’t just provide one exciting project and put all your efforts into it. The families are here for more than this 6/8 weeks and will likely need continuous support and input. Remember why you’re here.
- Make sure as a worker you are passionate about what you do so you are always able to drive things forward.
- Never give up. If you believe in what your doing you will at some point get your reward no matter how big or small, remember a carer or child saying thank you is reward enough.
