Training
Equality Awareness
The training is an interactive session designed to introduce awareness about equalities in a practical way and includes:·
-The meaning of different equality terms
-Inclusive language and terminology
-Etiquette - dealing with people in person
-Equalities legislation
-The equality profile of council staff and the city
-Cultural awareness, looking at different religions and asylum seekers
Disability Training
New online Disability Training is also available. The training will be run by a Local Authority officer and a parent, member of CANDI, the forum for parent/carers of disabled children or the Champion for disabled young people from PACT. This will give you a dual approach to the issues of disability equality from a parent/young person and a professional. It is good practice for all teams to receive this training.
