New service directory

Seaching for services has never been so easy!

With over 1,500 services in the YorOK Service Directory being able to quickly find the right services is critical. The way you can search for services has been greatly improved and developed.

You can search by:

• Postcode – A simple search allowing you search by postcode, radius and keyword
• Keyword – A quick search bringing back instant results based on keywords
• Category – If you know the type of thing you want you can quickly find it by browsing services by categories
• Childcare – This search allows you to search for childcare by type, location, local school and availability

The main website site search is now being powered using Google technology.

This means:

• Improved accuracy and relevance in search results
• The search also returns pages from www.york.gov.uk to provide more joined up online information
• As well as searching all of the pages on the YorOK website it also searches the service directory

Finding your way to services

The new directory system makes much better use of maps to help find services:

• Search results are displayed on a map to make finding services easier
• Detailed pages about each service include a large map showing the location of the service
• The directory links with the public transport website giving details of directions and bus services between your location and the service.

Shine activities

The Shine activity programme provides a fantastic range of activities for children and young people over school holidays. This regular listing of activities has now been redesigned and fully integrated with the rest of the service directory. This means you can now see all Shine activities being provided by a particular service or out of a particular venue. This will help children and young people progress from a short set of sessions to a long term engagement with a positive activity.

QR codes – never be out of date again

If you print out information about a particular service you will see that it has a unique Quick Response (QR) code. This means if you scan this code using your smartphone you will be quickly taken to the page about that service showing the most up to date information available.
