Getting Involved
How do I get involved?
If you are expecting a baby or have a child under 5 you can come along to an activity or register with your local children’s centre either in person at the children’s centre or ask your health visitor or midwife.
One of the key principles of children’s centre services is the involvement of parents/carers and children at all stages of the development of services and in the running of children’s centres. You can get involved by:
- Making comments and suggestions via this page or phoning the centre
- Coming along to a Parents’ Action Group/ Forum
- Becoming a Partnership Board member
From time to time we will ask specific questions on this page about children's centre services.
Comments, questions or suggestions
If you would like to ask questions about or make suggestions for the development of children's centre services please do so below and one of our workers will be in touch.
What is a Parent’s Action Group/Forum?
Once a month parents/carers and staff get together at each children’s centre to talk about ideas, discuss concerns and successes and share views on the services and what parents/carers would like to see. These meetings are very relaxed and informal and everyone is welcome. To find out when the next Parent’s Action Group/Forum is please contact your local children’s centre.
What is a Partnership Board?
Each children’s centre has a partnership board which meets three times a year. They are made up of parent representatives and professionals from different agencies and their role is to oversee the running of the children’s centre. If you would like to find out more about being involved please contact your local children’s centre.
